Hello everyone! We are team 632, Subnautics and we are here to tell you about our FTC story.
We started out in September of 2024, where we founded our own robotics team from scratch. We were a group of 15 curious-minded students who wanted to grow our talents into something extraordinary. Our robotics journey started with simple ideas, late nights sketching designs and moments of, "What if we could...?". Of course, as a first time team, we didn't have all the answers but we had the passion, the drive, imagination and each other - and that was more than enough.
In the beginning, we were just figuring out the basics: inventory, coding, outreach, building, failing, fixing , learning and celebrating every tiny success along the way. It was not always easy. There were long meetings and unexpected setbacks, moments of doubt but with every challenge we grew stronger. We learned to trust our instincts, support one another and push through, even when things got tough.
As competitions drew closer, so did growth. Our ideas got bolder, our skills stronger anf our bond became unbreakable. We didn't just build a robot, we built a team. A team that cheered the loudest at Regionals and worked so incredibly hard to be where we are today. From our very first prototype to the polished, competition-ready robots we are sending to nationals today, everything we have achieved is a reflection of our journey: full of passion, creativity and grit. The determination that we had led to us securing over £3000 in sponsorships, which gave us the tools and confidence to move forward.
Then came a moment we will never forget: we were awarded a wild card to compete at Nationals. It was a huge turning point- a reflection of our commitment, our teamwork, and the potential others saw in us. That boost of recognition gave us even more motivation to give back and make an impact beyond our robot.
So, in June, we took that energy into the wider world We led a workshop at a local primary school, introducing a group of young girls to Micro-bits and the exciting possibilities of technology. It wasn't just about coding-it was about sparking curiosity and proving that girls ABSOLUTELY belong in STEM. Our outreach tutorials gained hundreds of views online, helping to inspire even more young minds and proving that our voice mattered.
Beyond the tools and tech, this team has given us something even greater: a place to belong, a voice to be heard and a mission to inspire. Whether it's mentoring younger students, hosting workshops or breaking down stereotypes in STEM, we are proud to be a team that stands for more that just winning.
We have come so far-but we know that this is just the start. The road ahead is bright and we are ready for it-together. Through every wire, wheel, and wild idea, we carry the heart if our team: the courage to face challenges, the compassion to lift each other up, the imagination to dream bigger, the curiosity to keep exploring and the responsiveness to use what we've learnt to make a difference
This is our journey and we're only getting started
