Hello! We are team 632, Subnautics, an all female FTC robotics team based in Marylebone, London, diving into innovation with bold ideas, serious engineering and a passion for making STEM accessible to all. Whether we're building robots, leading school workshops, or uploading another video to instagram, our mission is simple: to inspire, include and engineer a better future-together.
What we do
We focus on a range of things including design, building, programming, and testing robots to complete specific tasks or compete in challenges. Challenges like First Tech develop crucial life skills and career skills too. As well as this, we also do non-technical tasks such as community outreach, (e.g going to primary schools in the area and teaching kids about robotics).
Our goal is to motivate young women to seek out careers in STEM through building a setting that promotes a strong passion for learning and a fascination with the world. We provide interactive educational experiences and practical chances to learn, whilst striving to support their curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, enabling them to build the necessary confidence and abilities for success. Our goal is to not just give knowledge but to also empower every student to have faith in their abilities, set high goals, face challenges, and work towards improving themselves as people and communities.
Our team theme is ocean-themed, as we believe in the importance of the ocean. Currently, our oceans are suffering from a range of issues such as pollution and ecosystem damage which at one point could become irreversible. We decided to name our team after the oceans as we are inspired by the role robotics has in protecting our oceans. For example, we are inspired by the ROV sabertooth who has shattered the world of underwater exploration. We really took inspiration from this incredible sector of robotics and decided to name our team after it.
