Kayla Malecki

Dear 2nd Grade Families,

Happy new school year and welcome to 2nd Grade! I am so excited to be your child’s 2nd Grade teacher. My name is Kayla Malecki (Miss Malecki) and this is my sixth year here at St. Mary Parish School. I wanted to take the time to let you know how happy I am to be at this wonderful school and community. I can’t wait to get to know you and your child, but let me tell you a little bit about myself first.

This is my seventh year teaching and I am thrilled to be in one of the 2nd grade classrooms! In May 2018, I graduated from Marquette University with a double major in Elementary Education and English Language-Arts. Six years ago, my first teaching job was at Catholic East Elementary teaching 4th grade. I was thrilled at the opportunity to move to a school closer to home and the past five years, I have had a blast teaching 1st grade but am so excited to take on 2nd grade for the very first time! I am so happy to be back at St. Mary’s again for another wonderful year!

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. From the very first moment I stepped into my Kindergarten classroom as a young child, I fell in love with everything that involved school and being a teacher. The dreams of becoming a teacher continued to grow throughout my elementary education at St. Roman. I attended St. Roman K5 through 8th grade, which is located on the southside of Milwaukee. After I graduated from St. Roman, I went onto Pius XI High School and still stay in touch with former teachers that inspired me.

My Catholic faith is very important to me, which is also why I am so happy to be at St. Mary! I am a parishioner here and attend weekly Mass with my fiancé. I am excited to get married here next summer of 2025 with this beautiful community!

I come from a large family. My mom and dad blessed me with four wonderful siblings (two sisters and two brothers). My mom is my guardian angel in heaven and she still guides me each and every day. I spend most of my time with my fiancé, Brett. We just bought a house last summer and are enjoying this phase in our lives while planning our wedding!

Hopefully by now you’ve learned a little bit about me and can tell how much I enjoy education. This year your child will be learning so many great things and I hope they are as excited to learn as I am to teach.

I strongly feel that open communication between home and school is important for success. With that being said, if at any time you have questions about anything, do not hesitate to email or call me. The best way to get a hold of me is via email (maleckik@stmaryhc.org) since I am not always able to answer my phone. However, if it is something you would like to discuss via phone let me know in the email and I will absolutely give you a call as soon as I can.
