Hour of Code

For the Hour of Code we got to play and program robots. My group was Emma, Kayla, and I. We had to use iPads to program the robots. I got to program Dash first. At first I was bad at programming Dash. I accidentally made Dash crash into a wall. After that I made him dance and made his lights change color. Then we just practiced programming back and forth. Then we programmed Sphero to go through a maze. It was really hard. Emma was the only one who could get Sphero through the maze. Kayla and I kept crashing Sphero into the walls of the maze.

We also made binary ornaments. Binary is the way that computers store all information which includes words, pictures, numbers, and anything else on the computer. It is all made up of 1's and 0's. What we had to do to make the ornaments was take a pipe cleaner and put beads on it. We had 3 different colors of beads. We had red, green, and white beads. For me the red beads were the 1's, the greens were the 0's, and the whites were spaces. When we did that we had to write our initials in Binary. I really liked this because it is fun making things like ornaments. That was my Hour of Code experience.
