The Sacraments

The Sacraments

Starting Thursday, October 27 at 7:00pm.

Have you ever wondered what the sacraments are about and why we have them? Do you know the basics about the sacraments and would like to know more? Come join us in the Brophy Center on Thursdays from 7-8:30, starting October 27, to discover why the sacraments are an essential part of the Catholic faith!

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions."(CCC 1131)

"Sacraments are 'powers that comes forth' from the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving. They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in his Body, the Church. They are 'the masterworks of God' in the new and everlasting covenant."(CCC 1116)

In short, the Sacraments are much more than you may have realized! They're not just symbols. They're an outpouring of God's Graces that help to strengthen us in our faith. We receive the transformative power of our Creator given as a gift. But like any present, those graces need to be received and "opened."
