Homework can be found in Google classrooms and on the boards. Make sure to write them in your homework book. Each day I recommend review your notes, and for math practice IXL/Iready or Science your Ebook and notes.
We are all about Iready Diagnostic to gain a data point of our current math skills. This will set up a benchmark to see our goals through this school year. Any amount of growth is still growth. The first trimester is a lot of review from prior knowledge where we scaffold our learning of basic math applications.
Science we are learning all about Life Science this year. Currently learning about cells, vocabulary and how to make the most of our Ebooks and other resources for learning. Each night students should take a moment to review what they learned in class. This way they can have any questions for the teacher prepared for the next day of learning.
In addition to quizzes, and exams, students will take part in labs for science, and projects for both math and science.
Summertime Learning!
Summer is a great time to apply what you have learned. The following are suggestions to complete over the summer to keep our skills fresh.
Math:
Simple Solutions - Continue working on your book, using help pages and other resources to check your understanding.
Basic Math Skills - We will always use our math applications - adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Sharpening those skills over the summer will grow your success in the new school year. In addition to the packets - you can use flash cards, math games online, and online resources such as Khan academy.
Create a math trivia game to play the first week of school. Use your creativity, and resources. Extra Credit
Science: Pick 2 or more to do over the summer.
Science is everywhere, create a science journal recording all the interesting things you discovered over the summer. This can be written in a book, a slide show, or a short video. Make sure you look up and notice your surroundings.
Real life souvenirs, going on a vacation this summer, finding a cool shell, or rock, a shark tooth or something amazing? Either bring it back if you can, or take a photo and leave it behind. When you come back to school you can tell us all about it.
Do you like rides? Going on any amusement rides this summer? Research your favorite ride and tell us what you like about it, what was the coolest thing you found out about it. If you could create a ride, what would you create?
Fireflies or lightning bugs? What do you call the cool insects that light up at night? Take notice of when you start to see them, how many do you see? They don’t bite, if one lands on you, take notice of its cool features.
Summer fruit and veggies. Summer is a prime time for eating delicious local in season fruits and veggies. Try a new flavor this summer. Did you grow it, pick it or buy it? What was your favorite summer flavor?
All about water - what is your preference for where you like to cool off. Do you prefer the ocean, which beach location is your favorite and why? Do you prefer the pool, which one and what do you enjoy about it? What about the lake, what activities? How about a sprinkler, our water balloons?
I hope you all have a safe and wonderful summer. Enjoy this time being a kid.
