A prayerful week
Thank you to all those who shared their spiritual journaling with Miss Birtles this week. She really enjoyed reading your reflections and celebrating them with the staff.

Here's a lovely example...
Spoonerism? What’s a spoonerism?
Well, when you swap the first letter/s of two words, you’re creating a spoonerism!
Still not sure? Take a look at some examples below…
Take a shower - Shake a tower
Lighting a fire - fighting a liar
Belly jeans - Jelly beans!
They don’t always have to make sense - they can be as silly as you like!
Runny babbit - Bunny rabbit
Bead a rook - Read a book
How many can you come up with?
Fancy a new challenge on a sunny day? - I love to use shadows to make all sorts of fun and silly images. See if you can tell what my shadow figures are...
If you really get into this, you could also make puppets from card, design a theatre or even use torch light to make it feel really special. Why not put a whole play together?
Here's a famous example from Attraction - the amazing shadow performance group on Britain's Got Talent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4Fv98jttYA
Look at this cool example from Harrison in Year 5!
You might like to take your worship further this week with some spiritual journaling? - Here's Miss Birtles' response, as she reflected and wrote about this week's Big Questions:
There are no rules or boundaries. We tend to play some beautiful music, get all the colourful pens out and write or draw whatever comes to heart.
Starting with a prayer or replaying one of the worship slides might be a great way to get started?
In 1381 King Richard II dedicated England to Mary as her Dowry. The Bishops of England have been preparing for the Rededication of England to Mary for some time. It will take place at the National Catholic Shrine, the Basilica of Our Lady in Walsingham at 12 noon on Sunday 29th March (though this will now be done behind closed doors because of coronavirus restrictions).
You can watch the livestream of the Act of Rededication here: https://www.walsingham.org.uk/live-stream/
Why not follow these step-by-step guides to create some fun animal drawings today?
Take a look at my attempt at a little chick - perfect timing for Easter!
Some great examples from the talented Paul and Le Vallee families!
Look at some of these mouthwatering dishes cooked by our talented Year 6 children during Day 1 of their home education. What a great way to combine home learning and essential tasks for the family! It has been such a hit, we might need to think of some further enrichment tasks, perhaps themed around cleaning and general home maintenance?
Following on from Monday's Gospel worship, Miss Birtles has kindly prepared a Witness worship for Tuesday. This is an opportunity to take the week's theme a little deeper by focusing on a witness who teaches us something about it. Miss Birtles has done a brilliant job helping us to explore the power of prayer this week. Thank you Miss Birtles! We'd love to see some of your spiritual journaling later this week - feel free to email it in: jbirtles@stjosephsguildford.com

Have you noticed them too? - Rainbows popping up all over Guildford? Everywhere I go, I see them in living room windows. I decided to do some detective work and discovered that rainbows are the latest craze!
You might take this opportunity to remind yourself of the story of Noah's Ark?
Why don't you make a rainbow for your window today?
Thanks to Erykah and Harriet for sending this one in!
Welcome to the Headteacher's Blog for Education at Home! Miss Green and I will publish daily challenges and weekly worship slides for your child to enjoy at home.
What better way to start this new adventure than with worship? The audio and video clips should help you to navigate your way through. You'll also find some music embedded with the image on the first and last slides - this might help to strike the right tone.
We would normally print off the Big Questions for each class in school, so children have a reference point to the theme during the week. You might like to use the pdf template prepared and ask children to draw their own representations of this week's Gospel story.
As ever, we'd be very happy to receive and reflect on your feedback to make your experience better next week.
Good morning everyone! Today's challenge is to become Alphabet Detectives! Take a look around your homes to try and find 26 items, each beginning with one letter of the alphabet.
This morning, I got started in my house and this is what I detected...
A - apples
B - bulbs
C - cats! (say hello to Stevie and Luna)
Will anybody be able to find items for all 26 letters of the alphabet?
Take a look at some of our Year 2 detectives... Excellent work!
