From the Principal

St Joseph's is a Catholic School in the Dominican tradition based in the beautiful North Otago town of Oamaru. We are very proud in Oamaru to be able to provide a seamless Catholic education from age 5 to 18 with an unbroken tradition dating back to 1884. St Joseph's caters for students in years 1 to 8 and most of our students move on to St Kevin's College which caters for children from years 9 to 13.

We have a diverse and colourful community at St Joseph's school drawing from both town and country and around 20 different multicultural backgrounds. We pride ourselves on being a high performing school, setting the highest standards for excellence and success for all of our children as individuals. We aim to provide a broad and meaningful holistic curriculum and we have an excellent track record in cultural and sporting activities. In all our activities we seek to fulfil our main strategic goal of having EVERY CHILD ENGAGED IN DEEP LEARNING FOR SUCCESS.

St Joseph's is the parish school for St Patrick's parish and we have strong connections with our parish, seen in our weekly whole school masses, our Young Vinnies group, parish prayer partners and many other school-parish connections. Our teaching staff are active in our parish and our parish is active in supporting us.

Our staff are all experienced, highly qualified and dedicated educationalists with a variety of gifts and talents which they readily share with our school community. We are governed by an equally dedicated and supportive Board of Trustees. Our parent community is also diverse, talented and committed and provides strong Home and School support to St Joseph's.

I hope our website is informative and useful to you and if you would like to know more or are interested in enrolment please contact us.

God Bless,

Lorraine Frances-Rees
