The Washington National Cathedral or The Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The National Cathedral was built for a place of worship to all religions and for education and charity. The national Cathedral is the second tallest Church in America being as tall as 301 ft and being as wide as 530 ft. The Cathedral took 83 years to build, it was starting to be built on September 29, 1907 and was finished and opened on September 29, 1990. As of now the church is closed. Although the church is closed, you can still watch online services on YouTube or Facebook. The Washington National Cathedral wants to serve God and be a sacred place for the country to gather around in moments of national significance. The Washington National Cathedral is open to all religion so anyone could go up and preach. The Washington National Cathedral is also a place to help things like, racial injustice, reconcilliation, and helping military veterans. The Cathedral was made mostly out of Indiana Limestone. The Cathedral also has 215 stained glass windows, and each of the stained glass windows has a moon rock in it. The Cathedral took over 65 million dollars to build. Most of those 65 million dollars came from donations they would recive. The Cathedral weighs over 150,000 tons. Each block made to bulid the Cathedral weighed around 300 pounds. At the Cathderal around 200 people were buried there inculding someone you probably know, Helen Keller.
