Grading Policy and PowerSchool
Our new grading policy, as mandated by the AOB, is included in our Student & Parent Handbook. All major content areas will now be graded using 4 weighted categories. The categories are weighted as follows:
Content Knowledge-60%
Assessment of Learning-20%
Skill Application & Critical Thinking -15%
HW and Practice-5%
PowerSchool, which provides parents with online access for grades for their children in Grades 3-8, will open on Monday 9/15. For new students to SJS, as well as all 3rd graders, information regarding access will be coming home.
HASA’s Hot Lunch Program will begin on Monday, October 6th. This year we will be offering the following:
Mondays- Dominick’s burgers/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and grilled cheese
Tuesdays- Dominick’s pizza
Wednesdays- Subway
Thursday- Chick-fil-a
We are now accepting Hot Lunch orders for the 1st trimester (October – December). Please place one order per child HERE no later than Wednesday, September 17th.
Second Sunday School Mass- Each month this year on the Second Sunday we will celebrate a Second Sunday School Mass where we will recognize and celebrate our students. Each month is dedicated to two grade levels. This is a wonderful time to attend Mass as a family and to connect with other school families as well.
September 14th - Grades 2 and 5
October 12th - Grade 3 and 6
November 9th - Kindergarten and Grade 7
December 14th - All grades are encouraged to attend
January 11th - Grade 1 and 4
February 8th - PreK and Grade 8
March 8th - Kindergarten and Grade 7
April 12th - PreK and Grade 8
May 10th - Mother's Day - All grades are encouraged to attend
Special Notices
Don't forget to wear gym uniforms on Monday for "Move to Improve" and Wednesday for our PE class.
Homework Connection
Virtus Training
All parents must complete Virtus Training in order to volunteer at our school for class parties, field trips, and other activities. Your certification will need to be updated periodically, as well. More information about this training can be found at the following website:

Your third grade child's grades are kept in an online gradebook called Powerschool. We recommend that all parents visit Powerschool often in order to keep informed of your child's progress. You can visit this website to learn how to sign in to Powerschool:
