Hi, we are the Tech Team of Braehead Primary. We have made a website about Neurodiversity. We have created this website to help you learn all about different types of brains and how people learn differently.
What is Neurodiversity?
“Neurodiversity” is a word used to explain the unique ways people's brains work. While everyone's brain develops similarly, no two brains are like. Being neurodivergent means having a brain that works differently from the average or “neurotypical” person.
"Everybody has different minds and finding out something is different is hard at first. As you get older you learn more about how your brain works. You'll be different your entire life but you can learn more about yourself and what helps."
-Kayla, age 11 (almost)
"Butterfly minds are amazing. THey have to think in different ways.
Butterfly have lots of different colours and patterns. People are different like this too."
-Kadie, age 8
"Mind of the tiger. This tiger is fierce. I like it because it is my favourite animal. You have to have a fierce mind to learn when things are tricky."
-Kadie, age 8
What does Neurodiversity mean to me?
being dyslexic is like being a frog. You have to jump between lily pads but intill you find the safe lily pad it is one big adventure.
_Holly, age 11
"Reading is really hard. It's like being in the dark. You are born with dyslexia but that doesn't mean you can't ever read. You just have to work harder. I am really good at building and fishing and doing outdoor stuff"
Aiden, age 9.
"For me, being dyslexic is neither good or bad. It's just in the middle. It's just the way I am. I like reading comics and I have a great imagination and I'm artistic. Everyone has special strengths."
-Holly, age 10
Steven Spielberg’s message for people with dyslexia is simple. “You are not alone, and while you will have dyslexia for the rest of your life, you can dart between the raindrops to get wherever you go. It will not hold you back.”
