Hello from the Social Subjects Faculty. We are looking forward to seeing you all as you transition into S1. Myself and Mrs Hagan saw many of you on your transition days this year and introduced you to the faculty and what we do.
In Social Subjects we are responsible for the following areas.

Business
You have studied these in Primary School, although they may be called something else or be 'topics' such as The Romans or Rights and Responsibilities.
We are all about people - people and place, people and the past and people in society, economy and business.

In S1 you will have 3 periods per week in Social Subjects. You will normally have one teacher for the year who will deliver all four Social Subjects.
In S1 Social Subjects we cover topics such as The Rainforest (Geography), Chronology, Wars of Independence and Local History (History), Democracy and Elections (Modern Studies) and Kettles Koffee (Business).
Teachers will use a range of approaches to help you learn through class tasks, research projects, presentations, group tasks, documentaries and debates.
We hope to give you lots of opportunities to display your learning in creative and enjoyable ways.

Throughout your time in Social Subjects from S1-S6 there will be a variety of opportunities to enjoy activities outside the classroom or get involved in some of our extra-curricular activities such as our BGE Homework Club on a Wednesday or Film Club on a Friday.
