In S1 you will have:-
4 periods of Mathematics per week. This is usually split into two parts of Mathematics for 3 periods and Numeracy for 1 period. Many areas are covered within S1 and including work across Shapes, Measures, Numeracy and Algebra. Understanding the why as well as the how within Mathematics will be important to you moving forward.
2 periods of Technical per week. This will normally take you through 3 or 4 projects covering all aspects of technical. Many of you will enjoy the practical side of technical where you have an opportunity to make an aeroplane with moving parts, whilst some others might like being creative in designing things for use and then there are those of you that have a preference for more detailed graphic design/presentation.
1 period of computing. This will introduce you to many aspects of computing science. From basic ICT skills and using chrome books up to starting to look at web design and introductory computer programming. You will build skills that are transferable right across the modern world.
We hope all of these topics and lessons give you lots of opportunities to display your learning in creative and enjoyable ways.
Your teachers use a great variety of teaching techniques and are excellent at allowing you the opportunity to show and be your best. You will have a truly great experience across this Faculty!
Throughout your time in the Faculty from S1 to S6 there will be a variety of opportunities to enjoy activities outside the classroom or get involved in some of our extra-curricular activities such as our range of Supported Study Sessions, the Lego Club and becoming involved in STEM.
*We have also saved a Parent/ Carer Numeracy Booklet in the Transition Tab on the school website. Please ask you parent/carer to have a look as it will help them understand what you will be learning about:
