All scholars who have IEPs will continue to have equal access to the educational content. We have several learning platforms specifically geared to support scholars with special education needs. Ms. Walker, our Director of Support Services, and our mandated counselors, along with our teachers, will continue to monitor the progress of scholars with IEPS during this period of distance learning.

Readworks.org is an instructional website driven by cognitive science research where you can join, identify yourself as an SLP, sign up with your school, and narrow the grades of your caseload. From there, you have options to find texts, create a class and track progress and build routines.

Answers to inference based and context clue questions are color coded (e.g., use red to underline a word that means “an expensive area”). It is recommended that a clinician preview passages before sharing with students, as some may contain more violent imagery than others.

Making Inferences: A Fun and Easy Way to Understand and Practice Implied Meaning by Dr. Erica Warren This is a great resource for middle and high school students. It includes print ads for various non-profits and public service announcements, with prompts to look up relevant background information, decipher the images' meanings, and make judgements as to whether the images are effective at conveying their intended meaning. Their resource begins with images and ends with text-based items (i.e., slogans, metaphors, sentences).
The 'WH' CURRICULUM This resource will guide you through teaching the meaning behind the question and systematically increasing your student’s level of difficulty as they learn to apply their new found understanding. This resource is supported by research regarding child language development and acquisition of question words.
