Li and I are on a mission to get more people playing fun math games. The first game we will be introducing to our scholars is Dots and Boxes. If you have some time today or over the weekend, I would like you to complete the assignment we are giving to our scholars. Play the game. Take a picture of the game with the person you played it with. Send me the picture (dmejias@sthopeharlem.org) that you took so that I can add it to our Dots and Boxes photo album. To learn how to play, watch the videos below. For those of you who are still developing your mathematical mindsets and improving your growth mindset in math or in general, this is a perfect game for you. It will open your eyes, minds, and hearts about what the full breathe of math should be.

The website for settlers is free and you do NOT need to download the program. It runs completely from the browser and just requires a quick set up to your email to create an account. From there you just create a username and search for your friends, or students in this case. Then just start a game

Here is a brief video explaining the rules of the game for you non-board gamers. You can skip some of the physical set up parts since the online version does all that set up stuff for you.
