Being a driver safety app, we must be conscious of our app usage. As a company, we strive to reduce distracted and dangerous driving. We plan to add several safety features to help reduce cell phone usage during driving. The DashHub app will go into "Driving Mode" after the app detects the phone moving at 15mph OR when the phone connects to a recognized vehicles Bluetooth system. In this mode, the phone will prevent and autoreply to calls and texts, as well as muting notifications for the drive.
Our product tackles a particular demographic of individuals, we open up ourselves to many social dynamics (positive and otherwise) that must be addressed
Potential Social Issues and opportunities for positive impact
Our product targets a particular demographic: older generation car owners who wish to have the features and amenities that newer generation car models provide their owners. It is natural to conclude that such a demographic is on the lower income. Our company must be conscious of this observation, and price our product accordingly so as to not put a burden on those who are already suffering some financial hardship.
The DashHub is an app used for enhancing one’s driving experience, therefore our team must be aware of and address any issues that are relevant to vehicles and their operations. This includes the environmental impact of vehicles, specifically on CO2 emissions. Another issue is the safety of the driver and those sharing the road with our drivers. These issues can serve as incentives for our customers and supporters if addressed properly.
Solutions and methods to promote positive change
To ensure appropriate pricing for our customers, we may have to cut some features to keep the price of production and maintenance at a reasonable level. Furthermore, we can take the approach of expanding our product line to provide a multitude of options, keeping the core of the product in the basic package, while adding extra, nonessential features to the higher-end editions.
Because our product services drivers and through their vehicles, we must address two pressing issues with confidence: environmental impact and safety
Environmental impact: studies prove that keeping efficient, older cars on the road is incredibly positive for the environment. This gives our product a huge responsibility to keep these vehicles up to date with state-of-the-art services for drivers that are only found in modern drivers. Furthermore, our product can include tips and recommendations for drivers on how to be more environmentally conscious. For example, we can inform drivers who leave their car idle for a long time of the negative impact this habit has on the environment, and advise them to turn off their cars in such circumstances - sending reminders and status reports.
Safety: ensuring driver and pedestrian safety is also a key issue for us. We should remind drivers when they are participating in unsafe driving and advise them to change their habits. This will make the road safer for our drivers, as well as all drivers and pedestrians that share the road with them.
