Potential product liability hazards of the design:
Because our solution deals with the driving habits of our users, the designers of DashHub have an implicit responsibility to ensure safety and minimize the potential product liability hazards.
1. After developing DashHub, we must thoroughly test the product in order to detect any design flaws and defects. These kinds of defects will cause the most damaging and serious liability hazards, as they are not easily retraceable and addressable. Considering our design deals with drivers, and some real-time data: any inaccurate data is unacceptable. Furthermore, we must ensure that no distractions be implemented to drivers in real-time to avoid distracting drivers when they are potentially driving and avoid any liability.
2. Another concern is delivery defects of the app which can vary in severity and frequency. Distribution errors could be devastating, especially considering our product will be dealing with vehicles and their performance. Users might change their purchasing, driving, and other habits based on our recommendations.
Solutions to mitigate potential liability hazards
1. Strict design rules must be followed in order to ensure design safety. This will include frequent and prolonged testing to ensure the desired outcomes are reached.
The DashHub app will go into a 'driving-mode' once it detects a user going at a speed of 15MPH or higher, preventing the user from checking or using the application during this time.
2. In order to mitigate distribution defects, a large responsibility is placed on choosing a trustworthy and reliable distributor for our application, such as the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Furthermore, it is important to avoid any improper distribution of the application through unauthorized parties. We must be proactive in limiting the possibility of customers finding the application distributed through an unauthorized third-party vendor
