We are learning about St.Therese the Little Flower in religion classes this week. She is our school's Saint of the Month. St.Therese was a Carmelite nun from France. She is known for doing small acts of kindness and helping others quietly. Students will learn about her life and actions and also spend time in prayer using her as inspiration.
SAINT REPORTS
3rd graders were given "homework" to find a Saint that shares a name with them or has another special connection. We will be using these Saints to research and create a report over their lives. Work on this project will primarily be done in class, but your student may need help gathering materials if they so choose. Students will have the option to showcase their saint through a written paper, poster, or a slideshow. Our goal is to complete our reports by October 30th in preparation for All Saints Day on November 1.
MASS EXPECTATIONS
Students are given the opportunity to earn 5 participation points at each mass. During mass students are expected to be reverent and attentive. They can show this by having their eyes on the readers or Father, using prayerful folded hands, and refraining from talking to their neighbors. We also expect students to be participating aloud during the mass. They should be reciting prayers with the congregation, singing or following along during the songs, and listening to the readings and homily.
5 points: prayerful, reverent, and participating nearly all of the time
4 points: prayerful, reverent, and participating some of the time
3 points: struggled to be prayerful, reverent, or participate-recieved reminders
2 points: struggled and distracted neighbors-recieved reminders
1 point: struggled and distracted neighbors-recieved multiple reminders or needed to be moved
