Good afternoon families,
What a wonderful, fun filled week. Students participated in a special music worship hour, enjoyed a spelling bee, talent show, and cosmic bowling, and had many opportunities to drop everything and pray as a class. We quizzed ourselves over our knowledge of the Catholic faith and wrapped it up with a very special mass. Thank you for all you do for your children and I hope you know how blessed I am to teach each and every one of them.
Friday Folders went home yesterday. Please look through everything for corrections to be made and notes from the office. Speaking of the office. I did not get my conference request forms. I would assume you would want to know more than a week in advance if a conference is requested. I am meeting with Mrs. Niehaus and Lowry today, then will be sending individual emails to families I would like to meet with. If you would like to request a conference, please email me a time on the 12th that works best for you.
Due to the funeral luncheon that will be held in the dining room on Tuesday February 3, 2026, students will be eating in their classrooms, and the lunch menu will change to the following:
NO CHOICE #1 AVAILABLE – PLEASE DO NOT MARK CHOICE #1 ON FRIDAY.
CHOICE #2 TURKEY AND CHEESE HOAGIE
CHOICE #3 YOGURT AND CHEESE STICK
FRUIT AND VEGGIES WILL BE PROVIDED IN THE SACK LUNCH
MILK WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE SACK LUNCHES AND OTHER COLD LUNCHES TO PURCHASE IF NEEDED.
Math
Students have shown great progress this week. We were able to complete our review yesterday, and will have our test on Monday. You can help your child prepare by having them practice rounding, and adding/subtracting within a story problem.
Simple Solutions Lessons 59-62 will be graded next week.
Religion
As we near Lent we will be learning about the Pascal Mystery, Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection.
Reading
We are at the end of our unit on the human body. This upcoming week, students will choose to write about one body system, its parts, and how it works with other systems.
Spelling: test February 6th
Students will need to know how to add suffixes (ed, ing, s/es) to the following words: watch, wish, submit, raise, dry
Students will need to make the following words plural: knife, puppy, book, person, child
Trades News:
Mancilla: Wax Museum update will be sent separately.
Lowry: Next week students will explore how traits can vary within a species by reading from the Handbook of Traits, a reference book we use throughout the unit. Through partner work, vocabulary activities, and hands-on modeling, students will build an understanding that while organisms in a species share many traits, those traits can differ from one individual to another.
English: We will correct lesson 50-52 next week. There will be a quiz after lesson 52. The quiz will cover lesson 49-52. Keep a look out for the “WOW” in your Friday folder. A “WOW” on their quiz means they earned a 100% the first time. Our pronoun unit continues by learning about possessive adjectives, pronoun/verb agreement, and when to use I and me.
