This book is on a list of 850 titles that have been removed from libraries or classrooms in several Texas school districts due to objections from students, parents, and taxpayers. One of the book’s editors suspects that “parents who are challenging our book do not want children to develop empathy for Native people and concerns” (Reese, 2022).
