Imaginative Writing

Imaginative Writing- is on English Language Paper 1- Section B. This is your chance to be creative, wow the examiners with your imagery, vocabulary range and crafting of language, and to try and make your reader have an emotional response.

What you need to know:

40 marks. 45 minutes.

Marks for SPAG included.

Keep it simple. Focus on detailed descriptions. Avoid using unnecessary dialogue.

You will be given a choice of a picture prompt or a task. Remember that you can make it up! (even if it says Write about a time when you...) The examiner won't know and it will probably be a more interesting story. You can choose whether to write in the first person or third person etc.

Learn it- developing your writing skills. This starts with reading lots of books and practising your writing.
