My World: World History

In Social Studies this year, 6th grade will explore and analyze early civilizations including  Mesopotamia, Ancient Africa,  and Ancient Greece.  Students will have access to the online textbook as well as a physical textbook.  We will be learning to take notes this year to help prepare for the years ahead. In addition, vocabulary will be an important part of each chapter.  Students will complete a quiz after each lesson that will include vocabulary.  Students will also complete projects and writing assignments as part of the curriculum.  Below are the chapters students will be studying, in order:

Topic 1: Origins of Civilization (prehistory - 4,000 BCE)

Topic 2: Civilizations and Peoples of the Fertile Cresent (3400 BCE - 70 CE)

Topic 3: Ancient Egypt and Kush (3000 BCE - 600 BCE)

Topic 14: African Civilzations (300 - 1591 CE)

Topic 5: Early Civilizations of China (1700 BCE - 220 CE)

Topic 6: Ancient Greece (2000 -300 BCE)

Topic 7: The Roman Republic (800 - 30 BCE)
