The Planning and Advisory Committee plays a central role in guiding the work of Map My Path. This committee is made up of youth, family members, community partners, and stakeholders from across Colorado who are committed to improving transition outcomes for students with disabilities.
The committee’s purpose is to:
Share ideas and feedback that shape the project.
Identify opportunities for system improvements so services work better together.
Make sure youth and family voices are respected and central to every decision.
Guide the advancement of project outcomes so our work reflects the real needs of Colorado communities.
Together, the Planning and Advisory Committee envisions a future where:
Youth with disabilities are leaders in shaping the supports they need.
Families are equipped and included in planning.
Schools and community programs coordinate smoothly to prepare youth for adult life.
Transition to employment, education, and independence is easier, clearer, and more successful for every student.
Quarterly Planning and Advisory Committee
This is the big group that meets every three months. It’s open to anyone who wants to hear updates, ask questions, or share feedback about Map My Path. These meetings are where we bring everyone together — youth, families, schools, and community partners — to share progress and make sure the work is moving in the right direction.
Core Planning and Advisory Committee
The Core Committee is a smaller, more focused group that meets more often. Its role is to take what we hear in the Quarterly meetings and dig deeper. Members help set priorities, draft goals, and guide the direction of the work.
Action Groups
From the Core Committee, smaller Action Groups form to work on specific topics or goals. These might include creating youth-led content, giving feedback on trainings, or building leadership skills. Action Groups are where ideas turn into real steps, with youth and family members leading the way and adults providing support as needed.
Committee members are invited to:
Help design tools, resources, and training that will be useful for students and families.
Test new ideas, give honest feedback, and ensure what’s created is accessible and meaningful.
Build leadership skills, contribute to decision-making, and connect with others across the state.
Youth and family members are recognized as equal partners in this work and receive a stipend for their time and contributions.
Quarterly Map My Path Planning and Advisory Committee meetings are held every three months on the second Thursday from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM. To see the meeting schedule and get registered for upcoming meetings, select the button below.
