Registration FAQ's

1. What should I do if I want to take a class that I need to audition for?

 Go ahead and sign up for the class. We will set up auditions for late April. 

2. I would like to take two time release periods or two work release periods next year. Is that possible?  

No, students will only be allowed to take one time release or work release class next year. 

3. I want to sign up for a class that requires an application. What should I do? 

Go ahead and sign up for the class. Applications are available in the counseling center. If you need an application mailed to you, please contact the counseling center. 

4. I am not sure which level of class I should take for areas like English, Math and Science (example - College Prep English 11 or Advanced Placement Literature).

 Please speak with your current teacher to get their advice on what would be the appropriate class for you. 

5. I would like to satisfy my PE credit through an alternative means (two sports in a year, a competitive sport outside school, etc.) What should I do?

 My recommendation is that students should sign up for a PE class through our high school. The state revised the law about waiving PE or using an alternative means to meet the pe requirement. Students are required to complete a new process, including demonstrating the FITT principles (frequency, intensity, time, and type of exercise). 

6. Is it possible to take more than 6 credits in a year?  

Yes.  Students are able to take Jazz Band or Zero Period Weight Training during Zero Period (before the regular day starts) or they can take Worksite Learning after school as a 7th period.  

7. Can I request a specific teacher?

When students register in the spring, they are simply selecting the courses they would like to take the following year. We do not allow requests for a specific teacher.  This is due to how the master schedule is created and class size numbers.
