Frequently Asked Questions for Enrollments
This document was created to provide families with quick answers to the most commonly asked enrollment questions. If you have additional questions or need further explanation, please feel free to reach out to our Enrollment Specialist, Audrey Preslar - 704-961-3008.
All new enrollments are done through Infinite Campus Online Registration (OLR). The enrollment application, including uploading documents, can be completed through the OLR.
Whether this is your child's initial school enrollment, you just moved into our district, or your child has been enrolled with us previously, you will need to complete an enrollment application. Below are some helpful hints before you begin:
Have the following information available for all students you are enrolling:
Student's FULL name (First, Middle, Last)
Student's date of birth
Student's previous school information (name and location)
Gather all Required Documents
Write down or take a screenshot of your your Application Number for reference
Parents should have a valid email address
Be sure to check your Spam folder for the confirmation email from SCS Infinite Campus
Click the links for additional information:
If you are new to the district, you are not required to provide records from your child's previous school, as those will be requested from the school your child is enrolling into. Check out the "Recommended Documentation" section above for additional information.
We understand that everyone's living situation is different.
For parents/guardians who do not have the three Proofs of Domicile in their name:
The person with whom the family is living must complete and sign a Residency Affidavit*, which must also be notarized.
That individual will be required to provide three Proofs of Domicile in their own name.
By signing the Residency Affidavit, they are confirming that you and your child live with them. They must then provide documentation to verify their residence within the school district.
*The Residency Affidavit cannot be used as a proof of domicile.
No Notary? No Problem!
You can schedule an appointment with our Enrollment Specialist who is happy to notarize any enrollment documents for you, at no charge.

Domicile requires the intent to abandon one’s prior home and remain in the new location as a permanent home for an indefinite period. In contrast, a residence need not be one’s exclusive home and does not require an intention that the residence be the permanent home.
Of course! We're more than happy to assist you in the office!
We kindly ask that you schedule an appointment to ensure the Enrollment Specialist is available to assist you:

The Stanly County Board of Education is located at:
723 Aquadale Rd
Albemarle, NC 28001
We understand that it takes time for bills to generate for new residents.
While three Proofs of Domicile will still be required, you may provide two of the following for Tier 2:
Receipt/confirmation email from a utility/service provider with your name and service address listed
Temporary Driving Certificate from the DMV (if you're able to update your address online)
Letter/confirmation from your bank/financial institution with your new address listed
Letter/confirmation from your employer with your new address listed
If you are enrolling during the school year, the Enrollment Specialist will reach out to you to confirm a start date. Once the start date is confirmed, you will be asked to take your child into the school's office on their first day (typically 15-20 minutes after the start time to allow for the "morning rush" to subside). School staff will show you and your child around the school, provide them with a schedule (if applicable), and get them to class to meet their teacher(s).
If you are enrolling your child over the summer (or for the upcoming school year), be sure to keep a check on the school's Facebook page or website for announcements regarding open house, school supply lists, staggered entry date (for incoming kindergarteners), and any additional announcements.
School assignment is determined by the address where you are domiciled.
The link below can help determine your zoned school:

The student transfer request period is early-December through mid-March for the following school year. Applications are submitted through the ScribChoice Portal.
Transfers are processed through Student Services: 704-961-3800.
In compliance with North Carolina General Statute § 115C-364, a child must turn 5 on or before August 31 of the year they're entering school.
A child's biological parent whose parental rights have not been terminated by a court of law (parents listed on the child's Birth Certificate or someone who has provided sufficient proof of parentage)
A court-ordered legal custodian or guardian (order must be signed by a judge)
A child's foster parent or DSS caseworker (providing placement documentation)
A foreign-exchange host family who has provided appropriate documentation prior to enrollment
*Power of Attorney documents or notarized statements are not sufficient for enrollment. They do not substitute for legal custody/guardianship.*
Bus Requests can be made online, via the Bus Transportation Request Form.
A transportation request MUST be completed each school year even if your child was a bus rider the previous school year or for ANY CHANGES to a bus stop. Every new request completely overwrites every previous request.
Please allow up to 10 days for your child to be assigned to a bus.
For questions, please contact the Transportation Department: 704-961-5100
We realize that moves happen during the school year. We want students' learning to be impacted as little as possible, so a "Continuation Transfer" can be offered to families who move within the county to keep their child at their school of origin (bus transportation is not provided to/from the new home address).
The Continuation is only valid until the end of the current school year, unless a transfer is granted during the transfer period. Once the current school year is complete, your child will be reassigned to the new attendance-area school.
Please contact Student Services (704-961-3800) to inquire about a Continuation. Applications are submitted through the ScribChoice Portal.
However, if you wish for your child to change to the new zoned school, you will need to provide three proofs of domicile for your new address. You may bring them into the District Office or email them to our Enrollment Specialist.
Domicile requires the intent to abandon one’s prior home and remain in the new location as a permanent home for an indefinite period. In contrast, a residence need not be one’s exclusive home and does not require an intention that the residence be the permanent home.
