***Important***
During this exam, you will need to access http://canvas.stanford.edu, so be sure that you are logged in. For the first part, you will watch a video of approximately 30 minutes and respond to 50 multiple choice questions. You may want to download the answer sheet in advance (available on Canvas) so you can answer the questions by hand. You can also answer them digitally if you have two screens available. After the test, you will upload your answers to Canvas.
For the second part, you will receive the writing prompt and have one hour to respond in English. You will need to be able to create and upload a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .txt file to the test by the end of the 60-minute time period. We recommend using a full keyboard to respond to the writing prompt. Be sure that you will not be interrupted during the webinar and writing exam, and that you will be able to concentrate and show your best work.
We will use the Zoom (zoom.us) service for this test, and you will need to access the service from a device on a network that allows you to send VIDEO of yourself, not just audio. This test will be video recorded by Zoom, but only the interviewer will have access to the recording.
Please be sure to test Zoom before the meeting, following the instructions for a Meeting Test: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115002262083-How-Do-I-Test-Prior-to-Joining-a-Meeting-. Please make sure your camera and microphone are turned on BEFORE the meeting starts. You will be asked to login to simultaneously login to a Stanford University website for the writing test, so please have your SUNetID and password ready. The test will take approximately 150 minutes, so please make sure you are in an environment where you will not be interrupted for that time.
You may cancel your enrollment in this session any time up to 24 hours before the start. More information can be found on the Language Center's EFS Placement Testing page: https://language.stanford.edu/programs/efs/languages/english-foreign-students/english-placement-test.
