You have now completed the online text component of the placement process. For the next step, you must complete an oral interview which includes a writing component during a scheduled online session. Please sign up for an interview over the summer using one of the following links:

For this portion, please have on hand your Stanford University Identification Number (SUID) and SUNet (the first part of your Stanford email address) before you begin your interview. During the interview, you will be asked to write in Chinese, so please make sure you have some lined or unlined blank paper and pen or pencil. You will also be asked to submit a photo of your writing sample, so please be ready with some method of taking a digital photo.

You will receive a confirmation via the Stanford email address that you enter on the form. You may cancel or change the interview time up to 24 hours before the time you choose. If you cannot do an online interview, please contact us at languagecenter@stanford.edu.

Please note:

• Students with prior exposure to a language MUST complete the placement process before taking language courses at Stanford.
• Students who enroll in a language course without first completing all portions of the placement process (oral, reading and written) will be asked to leave.
