Application & Registration

Apply to CUWiP HERE (CLOSED)

The Application & Registration Process

You apply to CUWiP centrally by completing the form linked above.

Applications close 5:00pm EST on Monday, October 23rd, 2023. Application to CUWiP is free.

Any undergraduate student attending a US college/university may apply to attend the in-person CUWiP. Students from Canada are encouraged to apply to the Canadian site, but may apply to closer US sites if desired. However, Canadian students accepted to US sites are not eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses from the conference or for waiver of the registration fee. Please contact the US site closest to you for more information. Unfortunately, students studying in a country other than the US and Canada are ineligible to apply. CUWiP is supported by federal funding which does not support in-person attendance for international students.

You must be over the age of 18 at the time of the conference. High school students are not permitted to apply. It is very important to complete all parts of the application and to write a thoughtful application statement. If the conferences are oversubscribed, priority will be given to applicants who are undergraduate physics or engineering physics majors and/or have never attended an APS CUWiP.

You will receive an email from APS on November 15, 2023. If you are accepted to a CUWiP site, the email will contain instructions on how to register for that site by the deadline given in the email. You MUST register by the deadline contained in the email or your acceptance will be void and the CUWiP spot you were offered will be offered to a waitlisted student.

Registration requires a $45 fee, which helps offset the cost of the conferences. If your department is not covering the cost, and the $45 would cause financial hardship, you may request a fee waiver by following the procedure explained in your acceptance email. Please note, fee waiver requests must be made seven days in advance of the registration deadline.

For Non-Undergraduates

There is no formal application or registration process for non-undergraduate students and interested faculty and mentors. We encourage you to email the site you would like to attend directly for details about attendance and participation. High school students are not permitted to apply.
