IB Middle Years Programme Completion Requirements

• Students must take the full set of IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) academic courses

• Students must complete an interdisciplinary project each year (created and executed by the IB MYP teachers)

• Students must complete the Personal Project in 10th grade

IB Middle Years Programme Requirements at Stamford High School

The IB Middle Years Programme at Stamford High School is a two (2) year commitment in 9th and 10th grade

Students will take IB MYP classes in 7 subject areas:

• Language Acquisition (World Language)

• Language and Literature (ELA)

• Individuals and Societies (Social Studies/Civics)

• Sciences

• Mathematics

• Physical and Health Education

• Design (CTE)

IB Middle Years Programme Course Requirements at Stamford High School

Students' course load is equivalent to the most rigorous available to 9th and 10th grade students

MYP courses are honors and/or AP level equivalent courses

Math Course Recommendation in 8th grade:

• Students who have already taken and shown mastery of the content in Integrated Math 2

• Students who have already taken and shown mastery of the content in Integrated Math 1

• Students who are being recommended for Integrated Math 1 Honors in grade 9

Individuals and Societies (Social Studies) Advanced Recommendation in 8th grade:

• A- or better in Social Studies before January 31, 2026 AND

• A- or better in ELA before January 31, 2026

• Recommendation from their middle school counselor completed via Google Form affirming the student's ability to complete AP level work
