Stamford High School is proud to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), designed to help students develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world. Our programme encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.
The MYP curriculum emphasizes conceptual understanding across traditional subject boundaries, helping students make connections in their learning.
Learning in the MYP is contextualized through global contexts, making classroom learning relevant and meaningful.
Students develop skills for learning that can be applied across subjects and throughout their academic journey.
Through community service, students take action and apply what they learn to make a positive difference in their school and greater Stamford community.
The MYP culminates in the Personal Project, allowing students to explore an area of personal interest and demonstrate ATL skills.
The MYP develops internationally-minded students who recognize our common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet.
The MYP curriculum at Stamford High School includes the following subject groups:
Language and Literature (ELA/English)
Language Acquisition (World Language)
Individuals and Societies (History)
Sciences
Mathematics
Physical and Health Education
Design
Through these subjects, students engage with the IB's key concepts and develop as inquirers, knowledgeable thinkers, communicators, principled risk-takers, balanced, and reflective learners.
