Application Information for Current 8th Grade Students (2026-2027 and 2027-2028 School Years)

The IB Middle Years Programme application for current 8th grade students will open on Friday, November 14, 2025 and will remain open until 11:59 pm on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Required Documents

A) IB Middle Years Programme Application for Fall 2026 Admission (completed by student)

B) Writing Sample: Completed by the student and attached to the application Google Form BEFORE submission. Blank documents and applications without the writing sample will be discarded and not considered for admission. 

• The applicant must complete all four (4) writing prompts for this application on a separate document. Answers should each be 250-350 words long (short paragraphs). Upload a document that contains your first and last name with your answers when prompted in the application form.

  • • Why is the IB Middle Years Programme the right course of study for you?

    • What do the terms "cultural awareness" and "international mindedness" mean to you?

    • Describe an academic situation in which you have demonstrated perseverance.

    • The IB Learner Profile encourages students to be "Inquirers." Describe a topic or skill you have recently taught yourself outside of a class requirement. What sparked your original curiosity, and what process or approach did you use to continue your learning until you achieved deeper understanding?

C) SHS IB MYP Teacher Recommendation Form for Fall 2026 Admission (completed by two (2) current teachers)

• One recommendation from a current Humanities (English or social studies) teacher

• One recommendation from a current STEM (science or math) teacher

• Hard copy recommendation forms will not be accepted

• Recommendation forms will not be accepted from the student applicant or their family members

Supplemental Documents

A) SHS IB MYP Middle School Counselor Recommendation Form for Fall 2026 Admission (completed by 8th grade school counselor)

• Required for students seeking enrollment in IBMYP Human Geography Advanced

• Hard copy recommendation forms will not be accepted

• Recommendation forms will not be accepted from the student applicant or their family members
