Demonstrating critical thinking and analysis in relation to real-world problems both in the classroom and through the co-curriculum
Developing competence in data interpretation, scientific reasoning and design thinking, drawing from a range of subject knowledge bases
Being able to select appropriate information to answer particular research questions from the range of knowledge available
This is evidenced by:
Being organised and independent
Having the ability to conduct age-appropriate primary and secondary research
Being able to handle and synthesise multiple pieces of information
Developing proficient reading, writing, speaking and listening skills

Academic to Activate
The Academic domain provides learners with a broad, stimulating and balanced range of disciplines in order to build depth in subject knowledge, skills and understanding. Through a coherently designed and carefully sequenced approach, learners will engage in subject-rich learning experiences that will help them to understand the world, while preparing them for further study and future careers. Academic study also involves the development of interdisciplinary skills such as: higher-order cognition, communication, numeracy, personal expression and study skills. This, alongside high-expectations, appropriate challenge, guidance and support; will encourage independence of mind, self-identity and autonomous learning to achieve and succeed in life.
Our Academic programme enables us to:
Build subject specific cognitive models consisting of knowledge, skills and understanding to demonstrate key learning based on a foundation of academic excellence, taking learners towards subject mastery
Create a distinctive purpose for all subjects so that learners appreciate the unique value of each discipline while being able to make interdisciplinary connections
Increase the cultural capital of learners through a considered array of experiences and opportunities, as well as being adaptive to current affairs
Excel in a variety of assessments, both at school and in public examinations, with a view to continuing further study and/or accessing career pathways
Facilitate higher-order learning opportunities through critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, analysis and information synthesis; to encourage deeper thinking and comprehension with subject learning
Develop effective research skills and questioning techniques to enhance the ability to search, locate, extract, organise, evaluate and use relevant information for a particular subject
Strengthen literacy skills; build confidence when speaking in public; develop effective presentation and listening skills so that learners can articulate ideas clearly, express opinions and contribute to discussions This also applies when communicating in different languages and across cultures
Strengthen numeracy skills to increase the ability to reason and to apply numerical concepts across subject learning
Develop the notion of self-identity through the interpretation of ideas, personal response and creative expression
Continue to learn beyond the classroom and extend this through extra-curricular events so that learners can fully explore and develop their talents
