How do I sign up?

Choir is offered every Thursday after school from 3:15pm-4:15pm IN THE MUSIC ROOM beginning AUGUST 27!

Some occasional Tues. or Wed. rehearsals TBD

Please fill out the Choir Google forms in the link below (by August 19) for admittance into this prestigious singing ensemble:

Choir Commitment Forms with parent signatures are ALSO due August 19. These hard copy forms will be sent home with students the first week of school.

On the first day of choir (AUGUST 27), students will receive:

Choir T-shirt and Fee Information and RevTrak Payment information
A Fall/Spring semester performance calendar information
Pick up will be at the front of the school at 4:15pm at the main entrance. Choir sign up information flyers will be sent home with all students the first week of school.

Singers are required to pay a fee of $35 to purchase t-shirts for any daytime performances and cost of music. Information about t-shirts and cost will go out to parents AFTER choir has begun for the fall semester of 2026-2027.

Choir Applicants Should:

Enjoy singing alone and with others
Enjoy performing in a group setting in front of audiences of varying sizes
Take vocal studies seriously
Have good singing habits and behaviors
Be responsible for practicing weekly, beyond our Thursday meeting times.
Be a student in good standing in all subjects, including Enrichment.

AUDITION INFORMATION:

5th graders currently in Timberwolf Treble Choir may audition for the LISD Honor Choir.

Auditions will be held on campus during school. (Specific date TBD. Check back often!)

Students will be required to sing one of the following songs of their choice. (Acapella)

They DO NOT need to be memorized: Click on song title, click on quaver link, then click top link to hear song.

America (My Country 'Tis of Thee)

America the Beautiful

"The Star Spangled Banner"

"Happy Birthday"

REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY:

Students must maintain a passing grade in all subjects AND a conduct grade no lower than an “S.” (Still Developing) If the student is failing one or more subjects or has a conduct grade lower than an “S”,the students will be placed on a 3 week probation(or shorter)at the discretion of the classroom teacher. During this probationary period, your child will still attend all rehearsals, but will be working on

classroom objectives the teacher provides. After the 3-week probationary period, grades will be reviewed for reinstatement.

ATTENDANCE, BEHAVIOR, MUSIC POLICIES:

Attendance is VERY important to the success of any program.Choir will begin at 3:00 pm.every Thursday and continue right up until 4:15pm. THESE REHEARSALS ARE REQUIRED! Attendance will be taken and more than one unexcused absence, behavior issue, or not following music policies will result in the student being dropped from choir, with, or without written notice.

If your child must be absent or leave rehearsal early, a WRITTEN NOTE from the parent will be required to excuse the absence or early dismissal.You may always email me at: ShepardK@lisd.net . Of course, if your child was absent from school on Thursday, no notice will be required.

YOUNGER SIBLINGS:

We can no longer allow younger siblings to attend rehearsals. Please email me if you have a concern: ShepardK@lisd.net

UNIFORMS:

For "Formal Concerts" (formal concerts are considered evening concerts at the school or evening concerts off campus):

Girls: Boys:

White Blouse (Long or short sleeve. NO sleeveless) White button-down shirt

Black skirt (Length can be mid-knee or longer) Black pants

Black hoes or tights Black TIE

Black dress shoes Black dress shoes (NO Tennis shoes)

For informal concerts/field trips/day concerts, we will be purchasing choir t-shirts at a later date. The singers will wear these with blue jeans and tennis shoes. (Information will come to you about choir t shirts/ordering within the next month.)

Grading Policy

E...EXTENDS AND APPLIES: WOW!! You are a SUPER STAR! You went above and beyond when demonstrating all the skill requirements. You met all of the objectives and you always come to class prepared and bringing a GREAT attitude!

M...MEETS STANDARD: NICE JOB!! You did exactly what was asked of you while keeping a positive attitude. You demonstrated the skill cues and met almost all of the objectives. You came prepared almost every day and needed very few reminders to stay on task.

S...STILL PRACTICING: YOU DID OK... You did what was asked of you most of the time. You demonstrated some skill cues and met some of the objectives. You came prepared almost every day and needed very few reminders to stay on task.
