ATHLETICS UNIFORM
All athletes must dress out in the required uniform. Items should be ordered from Groggy Dog Athletics Store.
Each athlete is required to purchase the gray t-shirt, the black shorts, and the gameday polo; all other items in the store are optional. Student last name must be printed clearly on the shirt and shorts with permanent black marker. Students who participate in football must purchase pants; these pants will be used for practice and games. 7th and 8th grade wear white football pants.
Students must also have:
Appropriate shoes for sports development (running / cross-training / tennis shoes aka flats) every day. No flip-flops, open-toed shoes, Crocs, boat shoes, loafers, etc. Students should keep cleats (if applicable) and flats in their locker all year if possible.
White socks, mid-calf or higher.
Prohibited Items:
All types of jewelry during practice and games
Facial hair
Anything not listed above or issued by the program
This dress is mandatory for students enrolled in the athletic class. The above uniform is to be worn only during athletic class, game days, and other dates deemed appropriate by the coaching staff.
SPORT SPECIFIC UNIFORM INFORMATION
FOOTBALL
-Students must have black (or mostly black) football cleats.
-Students must have plain, white socks, mid-calf or higher. Socks may have a small black or gray logo.
-Football pants (white) must be purchased. These pants will be used for practice and games.
-Helmets, mouth pieces, shoulder pads, jerseys, and practice pants will be provided.
-Personal helmets may be worn if certified, approved, and match Downing helmets (white shell, gray permissible facemask).
-Optional: Gloves are neither required nor encouraged. If a student chooses to wear gloves, they must be black, white, or gray.
-A student may use his own plain mouthpiece. Mouthpieces must be school colors and plain, i.e. free of words and designs (exception - Mouthpiece may have the logo and or name of the athletic gear company, e.g. Adidas, Nike.)
-Back flaps must be covered in games.
-Approved long sleeves may be worn in cold weather.
-Students are only allowed to wear approved or issued items.
CROSS COUNTRY
-Competition running top provided for meets
-Students wear black athletic shorts or black running shorts for meets.
-Students should have appropriate flats or running shoes (no basketball shoes).
-Students may wear a watch to track pace (helpful but not required).
-Students are only allowed to wear approved or issued items.
BASKETBALL
-Students should have appropriate court shoes. Shoes must be black, white, or gray.
-Students may try-out in regular flats if needed. We do not want parents to spend money on new shoes until after try-outs (end of October).
-Students are only allowed to wear approved or issued items.
TRACK & FIELD
-Students may compete in any event in flats. Event specific shoes can be procured if desired.
-Spikes must be black. Other event specific shoes should be school colors.
-We are working on building an inventory of spikes to loan students as needed.

SOCCER
-Students should have appropriate soccer cleats. Shoes must match, i.e. if left shoe is color A, right shoe must also be color A.
-Students may try-out in regular flats or football cleats if needed. We do not want parents to spend money on new shoes until after try-outs (end of March/early April).
-Students must have shin guards.
-Students are only allowed to wear approved or issued items.
