Galette des rois is traditionally eaten in France to mark the end of Epiphany on January 6th. So, Year Five and Madame Goalen decided to give it a taste. Commonly made from nuts sandwiched between sheets of puff pastry, Madame G opted to do a fruity version as we are a 'nut free' school. It went down very well. When eating the delicious sweetmeat, the child who receives the slice with the lucky charm is allowed to be king for a day. So impressed with his taste of gallette des rois, keen cook Ted opted to make his own at home. He reported that it tasted scrumptious.
