Just before half term our Year Two children boarded the coach for Miller's Ark Animals farm in Hook, Hampshire to experience life on a farm and see how the animals are cared for. The workshop kicked off with a session on where our children live and what they see in their home environments; the buildings and surroundings, making sure to use the correct geographical vocabulary. Next up they compared this to the farm environment. They then took a tour around the farm, looking at birds and sheep and learning about their lifecycles and how long it takes them to become independent from their mothers. Our children got up close to the animals and, if they wished, were able to pet them. Meeting some new baby piglets was most definitely one of the highlights of this lovely trip.
