Year 5
Year 5 loved planning and leading their own prayer and liturgy session as part of Mission week. They worked in groups to plan what Bible scripture they wanted to hear and how they wanted to respond to it. They also chose how they would reflect on this Bible scripture and what hymn they wanted to sing. The children enjoyed spending time with the Blessed Sacrament and praying for their loved ones.
Year 5 have been thinking about what changes they would like to make in the world. They then used these ideas to design a symbol to represent this. After designing and editing their symbol, they carved it onto polystyrene and used ink and rollers to create a vibrant print of their design. They had so much fun doing this and their designs came out amazing!
Year 6
In Geography we have been learning about mountains and volcanoes, how they are formed and how they are identified on maps. In particular, we have looked at the use of contour lines and how they show the elevation of the line. We created our own potato mountains to support our understanding.
This term we have been revising our formal written methods of addition and subtraction. We used playing cards to create randomised numbers that we could add and subtract, creating numbers up to 10,000,000.
In Year 6, we have been looking closely at the Nicene Creed and starting to analyse what this common statement of our faith means to us. We worked in groups to take each line of the creed and discussed what it meant to us as Catholics.
