Year 1
Algorithms - For computing, the children have been developing an understanding of what an algorithm is. We used a story about an elf wrapping the presents for Santa but getting confused. So we put it in order so he could follow the instructions. This helped the elf to complete the task.
Character Dress Up Day - Year 1 enjoyed dressing as their favourite characters and explained who they were and what book it was from. In class, the children focused on reading different genres of texts and discussing the characters they liked the most.
Peer Reading - As the whole school focused on plot and setting, it was very exciting to spend time with the year 5 children and read stories to each other.
Positive Noticing Day - Year 1 focused on treating each other kindly. On positive noticing day, each child chose another child and made them a present. It was a wand of kindness. On the wand, the children recognised positive things about their friends.
Year 2
Algorithms - We have been learning about algorithms. We pretended to be robots and followed the instructions given to us to create a dance. We have also been working on Scratch to create our own sprites to make them move!
