Year 3
Design Technology - The topic this term in Design and Technology has been about mechanisms. The children were able to get hands on and explore the levers and pivots of pegs. They also designed and made their own card as part of a project to incorporate levers and linkages in a celebration card.
French Day was celebrated with learning about the French speaking country of Quebec in Geography and also using French numbers in our Maths lesson. The children were able to use their French language skills to order food at the French market.
History Role Play - The children have enjoyed learning about the Ancient Greeks as part of their history topic. This was brought to life when they had the chance to reenact how school life would have been very different for children living in Athens and Sparta at the time.
May the Month of Mary - The children enjoyed making flowers to wave during the procession of Mary from school to the chapel. We were also lucky to be able to spend time with Mary in our classroom. The children learnt about how Mary can intercede in prayers and had the chance to spend quiet time sharing those prayers with Mary.
Recital Poetry - As part of the English topic on classical poetry, year 3 unpicked the poem Red Riding Hood and the Wolf which had a whole new twist on the classic story. The children worked hard on interpreting the poem and learnt how to change their voice, pace and emphasis to show different emotions when performing during their class recital.
Wake Up Wednesday - Year 3 have relished the chance to be up on the balcony alongside Mr Downer to help lead Wake Up Wednesday for the school. Even when the weather is grey, Wake up Wednesday still happens over Zoom in class.

French Day - Year 4 explored the French speaking country of Switzerland and Roger Federer. We visited the French market and ate lots of delicious snacks such as pain au chocolate, croissant and brioche. We dressed in colours to represent the French Flag.
Healthy Eating - In PSHCE, we learnt about healthy diet and nutrition. We looked at the nutritional information on some of our favourite foods to discover the sugar, salt and saturated fats contents. We were very surprised with our findings.
Circuits - In Science this term we have been learning about circuits and the different components. We tried to make our own circuit. We had to be so careful and persistent to ensure our bulb would light up.
Swimming - Year 4 enjoyed their swimming lessons this half term. Very enthusiastic about swimming and learning different strokes.
