Preschool
The pre-schoolers have been learning about people who help us this term. As part of this learning we have focussed on their parents who help them at home, doctors who help us when we are sick and lollipop people who help us to cross the road safely. The children have been developing their balance skills and team building skills when playing in the outdoor area. The children have been learning how to brush their teeth and recognise this is a job they have been helped to do at home. Sensory toys and TACPAC groups have been part of focus activities this term to support the children with regulating their emotions.
Nursery
In maths, we reminded ourselves about the names and properties of 4 basic 2D shapes. Based on this, we went further and looked at shapes in construction, how to plan and build with shapes to achieve the desired effect. To help us do this, we had a special visit from our Site Supervisor, Mr Fox who we helped put together a dress up rack, it was a triangle shape.
We enjoyed using the keyboards to recognise letters, numbers and pretended to order groceries and gifts online. As well as working in harmony with each other, taking turns with the iPads and giving instructions to the remote controlled cars.
Reception
This month in reception we have been learning about and making patterns in lots of creative ways. We have made body patterns, colour patterns and shape patterns. In Literacy we have been learning about people who help us, we have been playing doctor, and learning how to take care of each other. We have also discussed ways we can live in harmony and work as a team. We have designed and made maps of our local area and our journey to school. In forest school we had a campfire and toasted marshmallows.
