Year 1
Forest School - In year 1 the children have been exploring during the forest school lesson. They used their imagination to paint a picture using mud and water. They also had fun going on the swing.
Maths - In year 1 the children have been learning how to make 10. They used a variety of manipulatives to support their learning, such as dice, white board and ten frames and much more.
More Maths - As year 1 developed an understanding of the numbers 11-20, they also developed a recognition of more than and fewest. They started by using number lines and ensuring they could recognise the sequence. This led to instant recognition.
Year 2
Forgiveness - We have been learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and made sorry cards. We learned about the Act of Contrition and the Act of Penance.
Maths - We have been looking at repeated addition and creating multiplication and number sentences. We are also linking some of our foundation subjects to maths in our "Maths is everywhere" focus week, including science and DT. The children learned to recognise coins, understand their values, and practised making amounts and giving change. This was a great opportunity to support learning at home. Parents were encouraged to involve their child in everyday activities such as identifying coins, counting money, or talking about paying for items and receiving change when shopping. These real-life experiences helped strengthen their understanding.
Religion - We have been learning about how Baptism is a sign of forgiveness, how water is used as a symbol of a new start in the Sacrament of Baptism.
We dipped our thumbs in water and marked a cross on our partners forehead. This is to symbolise that we have been forgiven and cleansed of our sins.
Design Technology - As part of our DT unit, making sandwiches, the children tried and tested some healthy ingredients to help design their sandwich. We had to make sure they were tasty as well as healthy.
