Year 6
As part of French Day, the year 6s enjoyed helping to run the french market. They encouraged children from other year groups to use french phrases as they ‘sold’ them lots of various delicious french food such as croissants, brioche and french cheese. They also had fun using face paint to paint the french flag on children’s faces. In class, year 6 learnt about Senegal as their francophone country and created travel brochures. They also learnt about Akon, a famous Senegalese singer and researched his charity work with ‘Akon Lights Africa’.
Year 6 have been learning about the Stations of the Cross as part of their RE unit in preparation for Easter. After learning about the journey Jesus took which led to his crucifixion, the children chose a station to create a piece of artwork on whilst reflecting on how Jesus would have felt at that moment in his journey.
We walked around London, visiting various churches as part of our preparation for Easter, during Holy Week. At each church we did a different Station of the Cross. It was a wonderful way to see some of the churches in London, whilst also thinking about Jesus' final journey.
Year 6 participated in a TfL workshop where they learnt key skills such as how to stay safe when using public transport. They learnt what to do if they need help and discussed how to make the right choices that will help keep them safe when using buses and trains.
