Preschool
The pre-school children have been very busy this half term through their learning about Spring, dinosaurs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and building friendships. Within these topics the children have made porridge and explored the textures of oats in messy play. They have also developed their understanding and language on sizes when describing features of the Goldilocks story and when using their bodies to make large scale movements like dinosaurs.
The children have engaged well with worm hunts both in Forest School Lessons and within exploring the planters in the pre-school.
For the DT focus week children explored floating and sinking, then explored boats and how they could make them move. Eventually the children engaged with making their own boats through junk modeling which developed fine motor skills and coordination skills when cutting and sticking.
We held a Mother’s Day themed stay and play session where the children made cupcakes and cards for their parents. We also welcomed the parents to join us on our educational visits to the park and the library.
Nursery
One of the many highlights of this half term was hosting our annual Mothers' Day celebrations. (Fathers are always very welcome). The children had been super busy, getting creative leading up to the big day!
They were very excited to have their Mummies / Grandmas / Dads in the nursery, to explore their favourite places and have been talking about it a lot since the event.
The children worked very hard making special presents for their Mothers Day Gifts. They painted a delightful portrait of their Mums on the front of their Mothers Day cards. Making memories forever!
Reception
Over the past 5 weeks we have been so busy, several dress up days for example French Day, bring an Easter egg day to name a couple.
We also visited the Canning Town Library, on the way there we looked out for numbers and our spellings along the way.
Our love of planning and designing inventions continues to thrive, we even worked together to a ‘playground’ for Arby the Hamster from next door.
We continue to make friends, look out for each other and make ourselves proud through our achievements as we can now do things that we couldn't do before.
