Year 1
Design technology - making playgrounds
This half term we have used all our science learning or materials to explore playgrounds as freestanding structures.
We explored wooden structures, plastic structures and metal structures.
They were all materials that are weather proof.
We learnt about weather in geography.
We had to create our own playgrounds. We are now designing a playground to make ourselves. It has been a very exciting project.
Year 2
Year 2 went on a walk with our friends from year 4 around Hermit Park. This was lots of fun and it reminded us that going for something as simple as a walk is healthy for our bodies as well as our minds. We enjoyed seeing the daffodils and picking up the large sticks that had fallen onto the ground along the way. It was also a lovely time to check in on our friends and have some good conversation.
We really enjoyed French day in Year Two. We had a lovely lesson from Year 5’s who taught us names of sports on French. We visited the French market where we used our French to abut some French food and had face painting. We even did Gymnastics where we recreated famous French landmarks with our bodies.
In Art we have been learning about different textures and creatures. We sketched our own shark and used tissue paper to give different textures to the ocean.
In English, we have been learning and writing our own stories about The Tempest. We focused on Shakespearean insults one lesson and created a freeze frame of Prospero, Caliban and Ariel. We even learnt some insults to put into our writing such as you foul-spoken hag-seed. It was so funny.
In our religion lessons we have been learning about forgiveness and reconciliation. We looked at some prayers we say and how they say sorry and ask for forgiveness. We annotated the meanings of these prayers so we have a deeper understanding.
