Year 5
The Unicorn Theater
Year 5 went to the theatre to watch Toto Kerblammo! It was exciting to see a very moving show and have the audio played through our headphones. The story of the play allowed us to think about our feelings and the different emotions we have been learning about in PSHE and how we can use strategies and the help of others around us to help us when we feel down or upset. We were then able to go to Tower Bridge where we ate our packed lunch and admired the view.
Shoreditch Street art tour
We have also been learning about the work of Banksy and other Street Artists and were able to go to Shoreditch to view some of the amazing street art that is there. We walked around and answered questions about what we saw and used that to inspire our own street art tags. Back at school we started cutting out our stencils ready to spray paint our own tags when we get back in the next half term.
The Little Way Week
This month we have also had our own little way week. This is a week that was started by St Therese of Lisieux and we focus on doing small acts of kindness every single day to show great love. As a year group the children know that they can do something small and contribute to our community by doing what they can. Living out our Catholic Social Teachings and continuing to work to ensure we all work together and respect one another.
Year 6
Mission Week - Year 6 have spent time with the Blessed Sacrament this week in quiet prayer. Children prayed for their families, friends and local community. The children really enjoyed having this spiritual time out of their busy school day.
Art & History - In our art lessons this term, Year 6 have been looking at Herbert Mason’s photograph of St Paul’s during the Blitz. The children had good discussions about what type of photography is considered art. They then took their own artistic photographs and analysed each other’s photos during a gallery walk. The children also used charcoal to recreate Herbert Mason’s original photograph.
