Preschool
The pre-schoolers have now all really settled in well to the setting. Every child is able to separate from their parent / carer with a smile on their face which is a great achievement. They have developed their independence whilst exploring the setting and playing at a wide range of activities. They have all built great relationships and attachments with the staff. The children are now learning how to play alongside and with each other.
The topics so far have been ‘Me and my Family’ and ‘Autumn’. As part of this learning they have made playdough representations of their families and shared photos of their families with each other. They have been learning language related to autumn colours and senses. The have been on leave hunts and then used their found leaves for leaf rubbings and sensory activities and been painting with fruits and vegetables in autumnal colours.
Nursery
The Nursery children are all really settled, starting and ending each session with a big smile on their faces evidenced through the use of our ‘Zones of Regulation’ interactive display.
This half term, we have been extremely busy making friends, exploring at Forest School, enjoying the fine weather in our Nursery garden, problem solving and working as a team.
Also take a look at our Maths skills, as well as all the fun baking / food creating activities we have participated in.
Reception
Creative Arts - This half term we have been exploring our creative sides using different art materials and mark making tools. Here are some of our freestyle creations we have been making. For Literacy we drew forests’ using charcoal and looked at different ways of using charcoal to make the forest seem dark and foggy.
Religion - We have been learning about the creation story, how we are all part of God’s family and how we can look after ourselves and others. We have been working really hard to learn how to make the sign of the cross. We broke bread together at snack time and shared our ideas of how we can share God’s love with one another. As part of learning about ourselves we have been learning about our feelings and how we can manage our emotions. We have created a toolbox for dealing with difficult emotions and one of our ideas was asking God for his love and help.
Hello Yellow Day - On the 10th of October we celebrated Hello Yellow day, we spoke about the things that make us happy, what we can do when we are feeling sad and how we can help each other to feel better. We also learnt a new song about emotions. Our teachers painted our faces with our favourite yellow coloured animals.
