Year 1
Feelings & Emotions
Year 1 children have worked all half term to learn how we feel and that it is ok to feel differently as the day goes on.
We have ups and downs.
We need to work independently and cannot always have what we want.
We might feel angry or jealous. This is ok.
We might feel happy and excited. This is ok.
We are learning that we can take control of our feelings if we begin to understand them.
Maths: Greater than / Less than - As year 1 developed a sense of greater than and less than, the children used coloured cheerios to count out amounts and compare which ones were more or less/greater and fewer. The children developed an understanding of the language linked to this concept.
Year 2
PSHCE - We have been learning about the Zones of Regulation in our classroom and how to use the area efficiently. We had to match different scenarios to an emotion. We then created some dramas to show how we would deal with certain situations, and how to improve our mental wellbeing.
Religion - Students learnt about the sacrament of baptism and its significance throughout the RE topic that we were studying. Students read a script that included the priest's, the family's, and the group of witnesses' calls and responses during this session. Learning about the subject was a lot of fun.
Science - Recently, we have been studying several kinds of habits in science. This session focused on microhabitats and their locations within the school. In their microhabitats, the children searched the school grounds for minibeasts. We learnt a lot about various environments and had a lot of fun.
