Year 3
As part of our Geography unit, children in Year 3 were exploring longitude and latitude. Children used a satsuma and marker pens to mark the lines of longitude and latitude that help map the world. They also acted out the different climates found between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, and around the Arctic and Antarctic Circle.
Children in Year 3 are currently exploring friction. As part of this, children planned and carried out an investigation which explored the effect different surfaces had on the distance a toy car can travel. Children were working scientifically in groups to complete their investigation.
In PSHCE, as part of anti-bullying week, the children have been learning about how they can choose respect. They looked into the differences between how conflicts can be resolved respectfully and disrespectfully, and role played this.
Peer Reading - The children thoroughly enjoyed taking time to read to the children in nursery and pre-school.
Year 4
For Anti-Bullying Week 2024 the theme was Choose Respect. To help us learn and become equipped to deal with disagreements respectfully we did some role plays. Children were given a disagreement and how it was dealt with disrespectfully and they acted it out showing respect.
In Year 4 we took part in No Pen Day. We did all of our normal lessons (Maths and English) but with no writing!
For English we focused on the villain from the book we are studying. We did character hot seating, role played various scenes of the book and we went round and said our best scariest sentences to describe the character.
For maths we focused on our times tables and we played timetable bingo using counters, skip counting, and a maths treasure hunt in the classroom. We ended the lessons by playing various board games.
Year 4 took part in peer reading with reception children. They spent the afternoon sharing their favourite stories and tales.
The 11th of November is a time to remember and pray for the fallen sounders. We took part in the poppies and poetry workshop to reflect and learn about the importance of Remembrance Day. We did lots of acting and role play.
For positive noticing day, children in year were randomly assigned another student in the class. They had to notice something positive they had done. They then wrote that postive message and gave it to their friend. Now everyone has a tag on their bag with a nice positive message.
