Year 5
In Science we have been learning about types of changes and have been able to observe this through a number of very fun experiments. We have looked at how acids and bases react with each other, observed how a birthday candle burns and even separated a mixture using filtering and sieving. In English we have been looking at the poem “do not go gentle into that good night” and even learned Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare where some of us performed them in front of KS2. This week we have also been incorporating 15 minutes of PE every day on top of swimming. The year 5's played Kick rounders outside and had a great time.
In Geography we have been carrying out an investigation of the age demographic of our local area. They went out to ask people how old they were and then looked at the data when they returned to school.
Year 6
Museum of London
Year 6 took part in a workshop: Locks,Lifting and Load. We discovered the secrets of the 200-year-old sugar warehouse and the people who worked there. We also explored the technology that helped unload and transport the heavy cargo that arrived in London's docks from around the world. We uncovered how locks helped ships move in and out of the docks from the Thames and learnt how levers and pulleys put the science of forces and motion to good use!
