Nursery
In nursery we have been reading the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ children learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and have seen REAL caterpillars growing in our classroom !
We also made caterpillar biscuits and decorated them with lots of legs and colourful sprinkles.
Ms Edney’s dog Rosie came to visit us in in class. We took her for walks around the school, learnt about what she likes to play with and most importantly we gave her treats !
Outside we have been building obstacle courses and learning how to go down the fireman pole.
We also performed nursery rhymes that we had learnt! We loved singing on a stage !
Reception
This half term RY have been exploring the season of spring and how things grow. So far we have planted, grown and made cress sandwiches which the children really enjoyed. They will also be planting sunflower seeds to grow and measure next term before taking them home to grow over the summer.
They have been enjoying selling and growing in the class garden centre as well as designing their own plant posts to grow herbs in the garden.
The children are also growing their own butterflies. They are always keen to check on them each day and see how they are growing, and to check if they have formed cocoons. Once they emerge we will take care of them for a few days and release them into the garden.
We have also enjoyed construction this term and making creations using our imagination, using a range of different resources.
